My office is small and adaptable. The current economic conditions require an efficient response to problem solving. Budget and time constraints have always been a part of the work but today a lot has changed. There are many more considerations which play a role in the practice of architecture. The conceptual idea of a project is a very personal expression of the client and the architect. My approach is to find a connection to the client. It comes from an interpretation of your needs and focuses on the possibilities of the future. It is an attempt to present a feeling without the rigidity of the computer. Having said that, I embraced the computer a long time ago. Every project is different, every client is different, and each project requires a particular set of talents. There will always be new and exciting techniques in the practice of modern architecture. My past experience is the key to being able to provide a fast response to the client's needs.
What is driving your desire to build new or to fix an existing building today will naturally incorporate energy efficiency and green building practices. Green building is not a choice but a responsibility that is generally accepted as a part of standard architectural services.
The overall strategy always includes financing and budgeting and should also include a plan for the cost of operation, maintenance and monitoring the energy savings of the finished project. It is not possible for one person to have all the expertise required, so consultants are called in for their specialized knowledge when needed. We hear about sustainability and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. We all want an environmentally friendly building. LEED is helping to produce better performing buildings but not all projects require the expense of LEED certification. It is essential to understand the expertise appropriate to your project.
I offer a long history of working with teams of engineers, consultants, governing municipalities and clients which has given me a seasoned approach to the profession of architecture and planning. Finding the best possible solutions requires a willingness to listen and mitigate difficulties in the process. My commitment is to understanding the people being served and providing careful and supportive assistance in getting a job done well.
I am a one-person office, my architectural services and my job is to make sure the completed project reflects and expresses the personal characteristics and desires of my client. My objective is to help. It does not matter whether the projects are large or small: home additions, remodels, renovations or restoration of existing buildings, the processes are always complex and require balancing the cost, functionality, energy conservation, and aesthetics. A successful project embodies the results that come from strong relationships and design team interaction. My objective is to make it all fun, exciting, and interesting from beginning to end.
